PROJECT ESTIMATOR
The Estimator is responsible for developing Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) and independent
government cost estimates for program and project budgeting, A/e designs, and construction.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that construction projects follow the guidance in Unified Facilities Criteria, UFC 3- 701-01, and all Construction Specifications Institute Divisions (architectural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or civil).
- Utilize a general contracting background to convert statements of work into items, quantities, and unit costs.
- Responsible for maintaining the institutional local construction costs data sets.
- Perform market studies and system/material availability and feasibility assessments.
- Develop estimates for interior and exterior work covering multiple Construction Specifications Institute Divisions (architectural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or civil).
- Perform cost analysis and do comparisons on multi-disciplinary, multi-million-dollar projects
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Science or Mathematics or 10 years of dedicated construction cost estimating experience.
- 5 years of dedicated construction cost estimating experience or combined estimating and project management experience.
- Capable of developing interior and exterior work cost estimates using RS Means.
- Experienced with civil construction of water and sewer-containing structures, water and sewer conveyance facilities, pumping plants, concrete repairs, construction of structures (steel, metal, concrete, timber, masonry), asphalt placement, site work, construction surveying, and other civil construction. May also require certifications such as American Concrete Institute certifications.
- Experienced with mechanical systems, water treatment plants, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical construction.
- Experienced with electrical systems power plants, water treatment plants, pumping plants, electric equipment and systems; large capacity transformers, monitoring systems, power transmission lines; and other electrical construction. May also require certifications.
- Experienced with roofing systems, structural systems, waterproofing, and building envelope, etc.
- Specialized construction subject matter experts with expert-level experience in any of the above mentioned .
